Split PDF into Separate Files

Separate a PDF into page groups or individual pages and download the resulting PDFs in a ZIP.

Each group is saved as a PDF in a ZIP. Example: 1-2;3;4-6.

What this tool does

Split a report or packet into separate PDF documents using page ranges. This PDF splitter creates a PDF for each group and packages the results in one ZIP. To save a single selected subset without making multiple files, use Extract PDF Pages.

How to use it

  1. Choose one PDF and check its page count.
  2. Enter page groups separated by semicolons, for example 1-2;3;4-6 for a six-page source. Leave the field blank to make one PDF per page.
  3. Select Process and download split-pages.zip.
  4. Extract the ZIP. Open each part PDF and compare its pages with the intended group.

A six-page splitting example

For input 1-2;3;4-6, part-1.pdf contains source pages 1 and 2, part-2.pdf contains page 3, and part-3.pdf contains pages 4 through 6. Page numbers start at 1. Semicolons separate output documents; a hyphen defines an inclusive range.

Avoiding page-range errors

Use page numbers present in the source and ascending ranges. A range ending beyond the page count produces an error instead of the expected download. The parser preserves the entered order within a group but rejects duplicate page numbers in that group. Separate groups may select the same source page.

Limits and result checks

Input is limited to 25 MB and 200 PDF pages, with generated output subject to the 128 MB limit. Splitting copies pages; verify interactive or document-level features rather than assuming complete preservation.

Common questions

What happens if I leave the groups field blank?

Each source page is saved as its own PDF, with all results packaged in split-pages.zip.

How do I make a PDF for pages 1 and 2 and another for page 3?

Enter 1-2;3. The semicolon starts a separate output PDF.

Where are the split PDFs?

They are inside the downloaded ZIP. Extract it to open the individual part files.

How do I save just one selected subset?

Use Extract PDF Pages for that workflow, or use one group in the splitter and extract its single PDF from the ZIP.
