What this tool does

Export a PDF chart, diagram or page as a PNG image for a slide or other visual document. PNG uses lossless image encoding, but the PDF page is still rasterized: the export does not preserve editable text, vectors or interactive PDF features.

How to use it

  1. Choose one PDF file and select pages, such as 1-3. Leave Pages blank for the whole document.
  2. Choose Render scale. The initial value is 1.5; a higher scale creates a larger pixel image.
  3. The shared JPEG / WebP quality control does not set PNG compression quality. Use render scale to change PNG pixel dimensions.
  4. Select Process, download pdf-images.zip and extract the PNG files. Check page numbers, sharpness and image dimensions.

PNG versus JPG for page exports

PNG avoids JPEG-style compression artifacts in the rendered pixel image. It can be useful for diagrams, charts and small text, but may produce larger files. JPG is another choice when smaller picture files matter more than those edges.

What lossless means here

Lossless refers to encoding the rendered PNG pixels. Rendering a PDF to an image still changes the document into a fixed-resolution picture; increasing scale does not restore original PDF objects or make its text editable.

Limits and result checks

Input is limited to 25 MB and 200 PDF pages. Rendering is subject to the 16-megapixel canvas and 128 MB generated-output limits. Large images consume more browser memory. Keep the original PDF.

Common questions

Does PNG preserve the original PDF exactly?

No. PNG losslessly encodes the rendered pixels, but page rendering replaces PDF objects with a fixed-resolution image.

Does the JPEG / WebP quality setting change a PNG?

No. PNG encoding does not use that quality parameter. Adjust render scale for pixel dimensions.

Why are the PNG files large?

More pixels and detailed page imagery increase output size. Lower render scale or compare the JPG exporter if appropriate.

How do I export only the chart’s page?

Enter the page number in Pages. The exporter renders the whole page, not a cropped chart selection.
